Command Chief: Brett M. Waters
Chief Brett M. Waters
came to Belgrade in 1994 as the Asst. Fire Chief/Fire Marshal. He became
the Fire Chief/Fire Marshal in 1995 upon the retirement of the then
current Fire Chief. Chief Waters brings over 16 years of progressive
Fire/EMS experience in combination and volunteer Fire/Ambulance department

Chief Waters has
significant expertise in building construction, fire apparatus design and
operation, ISO reviews, working with volunteer organizations, fire codes
and code management, rural water supply, politics, Montana Fire Codes,
wildland/urban interface, ICS and funding sources. Starting in 1978 as a
Firefighter/Advanced First Aid provider, Chief Waters has held most
positions in the fire service during his tenure.
During Chief Waters
term in Belgrade, he has worked out a long-term service agreement with the
City of Belgrade to provide Fire/Rescue services, improved training and
operational standards with the second busiest airport in Montana in
Belgrade, expanded our operational capability on wildland fires, designed
and built many pieces of fire apparatus for a full-service fire/rescue
department, expanded and improved the fire prevention division, designed
and worked on the opening of two additional fire stations, added both
volunteer and career staff to continue to provide the best service
possible to the customers of the area, and improved relations with all the
fire departments in Gallatin County and many in the western US.
Chief Waters has a commitment to
outstanding fire/rescue services and never stops striving for the next
hurdle to accomplish this level. This commitment is vital to the operation
of the Central Valley Fire District/Belgrade City Fire Department. As a 30+ year member of the
fire service, he still has a sparkle in his eye when we are providing
customer service to our citizens.
